I get my supply from Pür Shilajit. Use code: "feedmejeeves" for $15 off! Pür Shilajit tests each batch to make sure there are no impurities like heavy metals, which is prevalent in other suppliers' Shilajit (Watch out for this in other Shilajit brands!). The batch testing reports are published on Pür Shilajit's website. They also have the highest amount of fulvic acid (the key ingredient in Shilajit) I have found from any brand.
My preference is to consume things in their most natural form to experience the taste (no capsules) as recommended in the ancient Ayurvedic texts, so I purchase either the tar-like resin or the pressed pills that both dissolve in warm (not boiling) water, tea with honey, or under my tongue. It has a strong bitter taste, so a tea with honey would be the best option.

History and Ayurvedic Research
Online Shop for Herbs, Roots, Teas
I've been using Mountain Rose Herbs for years to buy all my powders, oils, herbs, roots, and tea ingredients. Everything I bought was certified USDA Organic and they also list the country of origin for each item. I found that stores like Amazon or Etsy were far too risky in finding a legitimate source for these types of medicines, but Mountain Rose Herbs has been my trusted supplier.
Here are some powerful herbal medicines I've used for years:
Ashwagandha Root Powder
Ashwagandha has been used in traditional Indian medicine for thousands of years and is called the "King of Ayurvedic Herbs" because of its wide array of benefits, mainly its adaptogenic properties. This means it helps your body adapt to physical or psychological stress by interacting with your cellular systems to balance your cortisol (stress hormone) levels. It was also known in ancient times to help weight loss, as this regulation of cortisol leads to body weight management benefits. In addition, it can give you more energy in the daytime, while also supporting deep restorative sleep at night.
According to the ancient classical medical texts of Ayurveda, it is known to support a healthy libido and improve the healthy functioning of the reproductive systems for both men and women, rejuvenate the body, increases strength, useful in the management of white discoloration of the skin, edema and helps to clear improperly digested food. For women, it tends to increase the production of progesterone, which is the strengthening and supporting hormone that balances estrogen (*though not to be taken if pregnant or lactating!*). An Ayurvedic Scholar, Charaka (100 BC), was quoted - "One obtains longevity, regains youth, gets a sharp memory and intellect and freedom from diseases, gets a lustrous complexion, and strength of a horse."
Studied benefits in Western science corroborate the ancient Ayurvedic texts, which include improving cognitive function, maintaining a healthy heart, reducing inflammation, improving insulin sensitivity and blood sugar regulation, supporting fertility, increasing muscle mass and strength, lowering cholesterol and triglycerides, anticancer effects, and alleviating depression and anxiety.
Tribulus Powder
Tribulus has been used in both Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine since ancient times, and Western science has slowly been confirming its handful of benefits. It is commonly used by men and women as an aphrodisiac for its libido enhancing properties (here and here), protecting the liver and kidneys from oxidative damages, and also exhibits adaptogenic anti-stress effects. One study showed a decrease in blood pressure in hypertensive subjects and a protective effect against diabetes in another study.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is used for the treatment of eye trouble, edema, abdominal distention, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases.
In Ayurvedic medicine, Tribulus terrestris is referred to as Gokshura and is documented as a treatment for male/female impotency/infertility, poor appetite, jaundice, urogenital disorders, cardiovascular diseases, lower back pain, sciatica, inflammation of the pelvic and sacral region, dry cough, and respiratory disorders.
A common oral dosage for the powder is ~1-3g per day.
